Amy Chiao is a multimedia artist, performer, designer, and director working in site-specific performance installation, video art, material design, and virtual streaming platform experiences. She is a recent graduate of the Calarts MFA Scene Design program and Integrated Media. Chiao’s current research and bodies of work explore the art of sales persuasion through conducting consumer insights, creation of business marketing characters, and absurdist lifestyle design products. Through her devising practice, she undergoes self-reflective roleplaying techniques that form alter egos who she ritualistically inhabits through objects and storytelling. As a theater designer, she has designed for the late director Philip Cuomo's Coho Clown Cohort, the Portland Experimental Theatre Ensemble, and Tenor By Night Productions. She would like to thank the badass Elysian Theater team, her collaborators, family, friends, and mentors who have supported and inspired her to keep making and performing.
