Monique Moses will do ANYTHING to avoid doing a solo show of substance. Between party tricks and showcasing niche pastimes to retreating inside accents and alter egos, she successfully dodges the terrifying task of saying something true onstage. Or so she thinks. The Art of Avoiding is an hour long standoff between Monique and her own material, and the deeply annoying realization that maybe this was the story she's been meant to tell all along.
Monique is a Canadian born, Emmy nominated producer, director, writer and actor based in Los Angeles. She has studied at comedy theaters UCB, The PIT and The Groundlings and has spent the last 12+ years performing, teaching and directing at her home theater UCB as well as venues and arts programs on both coasts.

TV and Voice Acting credits include: Inside Amy Schumer, A Black Lady Sketch Show, Unlimited Squirrels, Human Resources, Broad City, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, and digital shows for IFC's Comedy Crib, (xPat, Sport Court) and Comedy Central (Astronomy Club Presents). Monique has also featured in web and audio content for Above Average, Audible, Funny or Die, Flama, Refinery29, and WeTV. In the summer of 2016, Monique won Best Actress at the Midtown International Theatre Festival for portraying the RZA in the extremely unserious off Broadway musical “Martin Shkreli's Game: How Bill Murray Joined The Wu-Tang Clan.” and has never looked back.
In addition to her stage credits, Monique was co-Head Writer and a co-Executive Producer for Season 4 of HBO's A Black Lady Sketch Show and has consulted on projects with Jimmy Fallon, Mike Myers and John Mulaney. As a member of all black comedy team Astronomy Club, she co-created and starred in 'Astronomy Club The Sketch Show', which premiered on Netflix in 2019 to stellar reviews from Variety, Vulture and Rotten Tomatoes.
