Q&A with Amanda Layne Miller & Amber Miller
Creators of Break Out of the Disney Vortex
What is your show? Two Black fangirls trying to understand themselves and their memories through Disney Channel song and dance.
What makes your show unique or unusual? At face value, our show may seem like a silly celebration of pop culture. But at its core, it's a psychological quest for release and catharsis.
What’s it like inside the vortex? Is it electric? It’s windy in there. Wooshy. Not electric, but whimsical and entrancing—you can float around. It’s a little disorienting, and lowkey addicting, so it’s better to go ahead and break out of there.
Before you break out, could you get me an autograph? We have the following available (real): Orlando Brown, David Henrie, Corbin Bleu, and Selena Gomez
Describe your show in 5 words: ridiculous + expansive + healing + joyful + rowdy
