Watch the work-in-process of Elysian’s first Company-in-Residence, Freak Nature Puppets, as they develop a new show!
The Company-in-Residence program was built to highlight and champion the spirit of collective/ensemble creation in and around LA, and support early-career collaborators as they create original and nontraditional performance pieces, devised theater, multimedia art, and beyond. By welcoming each group to create within, around, and for our space over the course of many months, we aim to broaden our community of artists, further enliven and diversify our environment, and help each collective achieve tangible artistic and career goals that move their work and aesthetic forward.
Freak Nature Puppets is collective of self-taught puppeteers that came together in 2022 and have been nonstop in their delightful offerings ever since. You may have seen the premiere of their first full-length show, Nosferatu's Sweet 16, in our Spaghetti Festival last November. There is so much we love and admire about this group. We have seen the inspiration and perspiration that leads to their prolific creation of endlessly whimsical puppets, their dedication to honing their skills together as an ensemble, and the ease and generosity with which they bring other curious artists and builders into their fold. The passion and free-spiritedness inside their creative process shines through their work. We’re happy to host Freak Nature, and provide support, mentorship, and resources as they develop a brand new live show.
Doors at 7:30 PM, Show starts at 8 PM
Seating begins 15 minutes before showtime, there is NO LATE SEATING. Seats are assigned on a first come first served basis, from the front of the theatre to the back. If you want to sit closer, be sure to arrive earlier.
Shows start no later than 10 MINUTES after the scheduled show time.
